Spring in Bloom: A Romantic May Wedding at St. Paul’s & Fox Chapel Golf Club
It all begins with an idea.
Some weddings feel like spring itself—gentle, fresh, and quietly breathtaking. This early May celebration was exactly that: a soft and stunning unfolding of the season, full of light, love, and the most romantic palette of flowers.
The ceremony took place in the grandeur of St. Paul’s Cathedral, a Pittsburgh landmark known for its sweeping arches, vaulted ceilings, and reverent, old-world beauty. With all that architecture, we kept the florals restrained—just enough to bring a sense of spring indoors, without competing with the church’s stonework and stained glass.
The bride—positively luminous in her perfectly flowing gown—chose a timeless selection of white and green flowers accented with the softest hints of lavender and yellow.
After the ceremony, guests made their way to the Fox Chapel Golf Club, a truly storied place, well-known for its classic elegance. The reception unfolded in two of the venue’s most beautiful settings: the glass-ceilinged atrium bathed in natural light and the grand ballroom rich with history and architectural drama.
In the atrium, the atmosphere was utterly botanical—literal conservatory, where fiddlehead ferns climb the walls and the afternoon light spills in from above. We leaned into the setting’s natural beauty, decorating the Juliet balcony in garden-inspired florals and trailing greenery that looked as though it had grown up overnight. The tablescapes were soft and layered, a mix of full compote arrangements and low floral runners, each in a slightly different composition to keep things feeling lush and unexpected. Everything was very much flower-forward: ranunculus, sweet peas, butterfly delphinium, lilac, hellebore, and garden roses, paired with textural greens and the faintest touches of spring’s earliest color.
As day turned to night, the celebration moved into the grand ballroom for dancing. The shift in mood was intentional—darker and more romantic than the atrium, then warm and romantic in the ballroom. We highlighted the two oversized fireplaces with abundant greenery and warm candlelight, letting the natural movement of vines and soft floral accents frame the space. It was dramatic in the most understated, classic way.
But beyond the venues, beyond the flowers—it was the couple and their wonderful families who made the day unforgettable. Kind, gracious, and full of joy and personality, these wonderful people made everything about the event a total pleasure. Maddie was the kind of bride you dream of: trusting, thoughtful, with a clear vision rooted in feeling rather than fuss.
This wedding was a love letter to spring, to family, and to all the small, considered details that make a day feel deeply personal. Pittsburgh has no shortage of beautiful venues, but it’s the people—and the flowers—that bring them to life.
