Welcome to the Era of the Personal Florist
LUXURY BLOOMS. CUSTOM STYLING. PERSONAL ATTENTION.
The Bloom Library began with a simple premise: flowers deserve better—and so do the people who love them. In an age of mass production, overnight shipping, and supermarket sameness, we believe that beauty can and must feel authentic, one-of-a-kind, and deeply resonant. We know that every stem has a story to tell, and that in the hands of a thoughtful designer, the story can become something extraordinary. A project of Pittsburgh designer Mary Beth McConahey, The Bloom Library is a modern revival of an old-world idea. It’s a return to the time when fine homes employed a skilled local florist familiar with their rooms, their rituals, and their people. We’ve renewed that intimacy with a focus on personal service, elevated design, and uncommon care. The personal florist is back, and we want to be yours.
OUR FIRST PRINCIPLES
BEAUTY IS ESSENTIAL. We believe beauty is a vital—that it is something to be cultivated, tended, and shared. A vase of flowers can change the temperature of a room, the rhythm of a day, the way one sees the world.
NATURE TEACHES. Every stem tells a story of season, soil, and care. We work mostly with what’s growing here and now—not to imitate nature, but to collaborate with her. The garden is both our studio and our syllabus.
CRAFT OVER CONVENIENCE. Each of our arrangements is composed by hand and heart—never by recipe or algorithm—and we always choose intention over efficiency. What results is not a product, but a practice—one that honors the artistry of the natural world.
LOCAL IS BEST. We’re inspired by the surroundings that shape us, and for much of the year, we work primarily with flowers grown right here in our own gardens. They are tended with love, gathered with gratitude, and arranged with a strong sense of place.
ENDINGS ARE A PART OF THE STORY. Flowers remind us that beauty is fleeting, and we honor every stage of the bloom: the bud, the blossom, the fad. In each, there is poetry.
